'Indy 4' Plot Revealed?

Chud.com isn't known as a site that posts wild, unsubstantiated rumors, so I'm taking fairly seriously their claim to have unearthed the plot backbone of 'Indy 4' -- consider this your official spoiler warning. A so-called reliable source has told the site that the storyline of the film will take its cues from two areas: first, a 1968 book called Chariots of the Gods, which hypothesized that the technology and religion of ancient civilizations were a by-product of their being visited by an alien race. Examples range from Biblical passages that describe spacecrafts to the famous Nazca lines in Peru -- ground-level drawings of such a scope they can only be seen coherently from the air, begging the question as to how they were done by a primitive culture. The film's plot will also involve 'crystal skulls' -- a phenomenon with some basis in fact. Over the years, explorers have unearthed a handful of models of human skulls fashioned out of clear quartz crystal. The most famous one was supposedly found in a temple in Honduras, and the skulls are said to have any number of mystical properties and origins -- Aztec, Atlantian, you name it.
The source also tells Chud that Shia LaBeouf's character will be a 'greaser' -- think Marlon Brando in The Wild One, with greased back hair and leather jacket and denim jeans. At some point in the story, he will come into contact with Indy, but the two will not discover they are related until a "pivotal action scene." The source also says that the opening action scene of the film will pit Indy against Soviets in Area 51. The fact that Chud closes by noting that the script is still being worked on also strikes me as legit, since Sean Connery seems to have said the same thing in an interview only a few days ago. Who knows how all of this will fall into place.

Am I the only one that thinks this sounds atrocious?

No, I agree it sounds pretty lame.
And CHUD's comment that "the script is still being worked on" is some sort of automatic sign of credibility? Come on, that's kind of weird logic... anyone could make up something and then say "Oh, the script is still being worked on..."

I always thought the original "STARGATE" movie was just a redressed Indy movie; i.e., "Indiana Jones and the Gateway to Olympus" or something like that.

Is ANYONE excited about this movie other than studio heads and film bloggers? I mean, does anyone really want to see a dour 65-year-old Harrison Ford running around any more? (and trying to pass as Shia LeBoeuf's father, as opposed to grandfather?)
Not being ageist here. (There are a number of other sixtysomething actors who I'd rather see running around an expensive film set...)

Now, if we could just get some data on Darabont's trashed script, we could determine definitively to what extent Lucas screwed us on this one.

I think what has made past Indy movies work best is sticking with *actual* accepted mythology and/or religion. "Chariots of the Gods" may or may not be "true" but most folks aren't familiar with the concepts. "Raiders" and "Last Crusade" worked so well because they were based on Christian legends/lore/belief that resonated with us. They already had built-in legitimacy in our minds. Crystal skulls and alien astronauts are great fare for a scifi film, but Indy movies never were scifi.
So, whether or not this is, indeed, the plot, the film will be ruined by the waaaay too young Shia LaBeouf's appearance as Indy's son.
If the script is still being tweaked, NOTE TO LUCAS AND FRIENDS: PLEASE make Cate Blanchett Indy's (established) archeologist daughter and Shia her son. That's WAY more interesting than YET ANOTHER father-son movie. Come on guys! Bring something NEW to the table!

I wouldnt mind seeing tis movie... but not as Indiana Jones... Sounds like Speilberg and Lucas have let years of alien films go to the brain.... maybe Indy will meet Chewbacca and ET in this one when they are revealed as the aliens
